BNSF Connects to one simple solution for the big problems facing Southern Californians. The need for good jobs, less traffic and better air quality. How? With your help, we can get freight off the 710 and on to trains, with the Southern California International Gateway.
Cleaning up an existing truck yard and investing over $100 million in green technology, SCIG will be the greenest intermodal facility in the United States. SCIG will reduce cancer risk, resulting in a health risk lower than the operations at the site. Freight will be moved through the facility using all-electric cranes, ultra-low emission switching locomotives and low-emission rail yard equipment. SCIG will only be served by clean trucks. By 2026, 90 percent of the truck fleet will be LNG or equivalent emissions vehicles (not diesel).
