BNSF Presents at Lomita Railroad Museum
At the Lomita Railroad Museum Speaker Series recently, LaDonna DiCamillo, Director of Government Affairs for BNSF Railway, discussed "Rails: Present & Future - The BNSF Story." She shared how BNSF serves as a major component of the U.S. economy by facilitating trade and commerce across our nation. She also described how BNSF’s proposed Southern California International Gateway (SCIG) will help support the future of our regional cargo system.
She explained that SCIG, a near-dock intermodal rail facility, would increase efficiency and minimize environmental impact by transferring cargo onto rail closer to the ports. SCIG would eliminate 1.5 million truck trips on the 710 each year, reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.
